A suite of pincushion paintings
Soapbox Gallery, Brisbane, Queensland, 2002.
Acrylic paint, canvas, wadding, cotton cord, wooden box. Each work approx 250 x 350 x 350 mm.
The suite of pincushion paintings are three sculptural forms created in 2001, a time when I was intrigued with handcrafted objects from China.
These upholstered and painted forms exist between painting and sculpture, they can be placed on a surface or hung on a wall. Their status as everyday objects elevated by an increase in scale.
